Australian Ballet
The Australian Ballet is a national icon, having supported the country’s most talented dancers to delight audiences with world-class performances since 1962.
As a leading arts institution, the team recognised the importance of fostering an inclusive environment, especially for its LGBTIQA+ employees, dancers, and students. Some processes and procedures were identified as not fully reflecting the evolving needs of the company, and we were engaged to support the team’s journey.
Our Approach
We supported teams with comprehensive inclusive training to set a new standard at all levels of the organisation. We focused on:
• LGBTIQA+ language and terminology
• pronoun usage
Outcomes
The Australian Ballet successfully updated its policies to reflect a more inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ employees. Pronouns were standardised in e-signatures, staff and students were highly engaged in a range of Queer Town workshops and the ongoing support structures helped cultivate a culture of inclusion and respect.
“QUEER TOWN IS SIQ AND NOW WE’RE LIKE THE OST INCLUSIVE BIZNESS YOU’VE EVER KNOWN.
